James G. "Jim" Weisbrod
James "Jim" G. Weisbrod of Stevens Point, age 83, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 2, 2016 surrounded by his family after complications of an illness. He will be fondly remembered for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Jim will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday October 7, 2016 at St. Stephens Catholic Church. Rev. Jerzy Rebacz will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 - 10:45 AM Friday. Burial will be in the Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Jim was born March 10, 1933, the son of Leo and Sophie Weisbrod. He graduated from P. J. Jacobs High School and played trumpet in the school band. He worked at Sentry Ins. Co and later retired as a sales manager from Gerber Products Co.
Jim also played in a polka band with Benny Gagas and later played and sang with the "Polka Stars." He authored and recorded his own version of the song "Little Brown Jug" which is still enjoyed by many today. Playing music wasn't his only hobby. Jim also loved hunting and fishing with his sons, traveling, golfing, casinos, and enjoyed country music.
James is survived by his four children: Diane Nakama, Gary (Cindy) Weisbrod, Randy (Linda) Weisbrod, and Pam (Ron) Weisbrod. He's also survived by grandchildren; Jamie, Kelly, Maurice, Gabby, Dana, Dylan, Drew, Chad and Lindsay, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved sister, Mrs. Larry (Rosalie) Slattery, of Rudolph, two sons: James and Daniel, and his wife Theresa L. Weisbrod.
