Obituary for Milanne Buchholz

Milanne Buchholz
On January 3rd, in the night, Milanne Buchholz passed away, and I lost not only my loving wife but also my best friend. Our life together began in a small apartment on the east end of Sherman Avenue in Whiting. After forty-four years of teaching, traveling, laughing, moving, loving, reading, making memories, and so much more, that life ended at the west end of Sherman Avenue at Atrium Point Manor care facility. Some strange irony. She died of complications of a long, slow, yet mighty battle with cancer. That fight involved seven major surgeries at the Mayo Clinic, several metastases, and many grueling recoveries. Not once did she complain.
Milanne had a tremendously infectious sense of humor that could be abrupt at times but always led to warm-felt laughter from those close to her. She also had a deep-seated sense of altruism, always concerned for others rather than herself. Sometimes embarrassingly so. She made friends naturally. To know her was to love her.
She bore my son, Tim, and he became the greatest miracle of our lives. He is so much like her—caring, generous.
Milanne loved making polymer clay beads and jewelry. She loved riding her three wheeled recumbent bike around Parkwood subdivision. And you may have seen her driving her red Ford Focus with Woodstock boldly emblazoned on either side, racing beside her. After all of that joy had to end, Milanne once told me, to her, heaven would be, being able to walk again
My hope, my belief, is that she is not only walking, but skipping down God’s golden pathways in complete freedom. I will miss her and love her for the rest of my life.
Heartfelt thanks to the people at Hospice Care and the excellent staff of CNA’s at Point Manor. You are all angels.
Her memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, January 28th at 1pm at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 900 Brilowski Rd, Stevens Point. A visitation for friends and family to gather to share memories will be from 12:15-12:45 PM before the service Saturday at church.
