Obituary for Lyann F Holicek

Lyann F Holicek
Lyann F. Holicek, age 69, of Plover passed away peacefully surrounded by family Monday February 27, 2017 at Saint Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Lyann will be held Friday March 10, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Bronislava Parish. Rev. Ed Shuttleworth will officiate. Friends and relatives will gather to share memories from 9:30 - 10:45 AM before the Mass at the church. Burial will follow at Rest Lawn Memorial Park in Wisconsin Rapids. Shuda Funeral Services will be assisting the family.

Lyann was born April 11, 1947 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Jorma and Lillian (Kroening) Tuuri. She graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee in 1965 and subsequently graduated from Milwaukee Area Technical College in 1967 with an Associate’s Degree as a Medical Assistant.

On September 1970, Lyann married Paul Holicek Jr. and settled in Menomonee Falls. On June 20, 1983 they were blessed with the gift of their only child, Paul Steven Holicek III. The family moved to Waupaca in 1986. Lyann then joined the staff at Riverside Medical Center, where she truly enjoyed her new job. Lyann retired from Riverside Medical Center in February 2013 after 25 years.

Lyann’s biggest pleasure in life was her son, Paul. Her love for him was obvious to everyone who knew her. She proudly displayed his photographs at work and home, and spoke proudly of him. Lyann also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, trying new recipes, reading, quilting, crocheting, and later enjoyed taking ball room dance lessons up until having hip surgery that reduced her flexibility.

Lyann is survived by her son: Paul Steven Holicek III, her former husband: Paul Holicek. Jr., plus many cousins and friends in the Milwaukee area. She was preceded in death by her parents, her father in law Paul Holicek Sr., and mother-in-law Irma Holicek.

The family would like to thank the staff at Strawberry Lane Medical and Rehabilitation for the care they provided during Lyann’s rehabilitation, as well as the nursing staff and doctors at St. Michaels Hospital ER, 5 East, and ICU/IMC for the exceptional care and compassion given to Lyann. A special thank you to Lennet Radke APNP, and Chaplain Janet Jacoby, for providing comfort, emotional, and spiritual support to Lyann and her family during their final hours together. We cannot thank you enough.
