Almon D. Adams - ‘Bud’
Passed away Saturday April 14, 2018 at St. Clare's Hospital in Weston.
Bud was born in Belleville, Kansas on April 16, 1938 to Almon and Emma Adams. He attended a one room school house first - third grade before moving to Beatrice, Nebraska with his parents. He started working in 5th grade stocking shelves at a small grocery store. He worked part-time at the Burwood Hotel through high school. Bud joined the Air Force in January 1957 graduating from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas and attended tech school in Amerillo, Texas. He was transferred to Truax Field in Madison, Wisconsin where he spent the duration of his AF career working as a mechanic on various aircraft. Following his AF career, Bud worked at Beatrice Light and Water department and then joined the Air National Guard working for General Dynamics Astronautics missile division. He moved on to work at Phillips Petroleum Company before moving his family to Madison, WI. He started a career servicing household appliances along with retail sales of appliances at various places such as Standridge Appliances, Appliance Mart and moved to the Stevens Point area to finish his career at Furniture and Appliance Mart (ending with 35 years of service.) Bud was known as the ‘get it done’ man and ‘Mr. Fixit’; he could fix just about anything. Bud enjoyed spending time in his shop in the back yard, and with family and friends. He also enjoyed traveling with his soul mate and partner, Barbara Adams.
Bud is survived by the love of his life for 59 years, Barbara Adams (Hanke) of Stevens Point, WI and children Lori Myers (Mark) Kalispell, MT; Craig (Wanda) Madison, WI; Gwen Vandre (late Dave Vandre) – Hancock, WI and Carol (Terry) Wilson – Stevens Point. He and Barb were blessed with eight grandchildren; Donald Guess; Kevin (Brianna), Brad (Colleen), Jeremy, Austin Adams; Kayla (Rod) MacKay, Cody (Courtney) Myers and Dylan Myers. They blessed him with four great-grandchildren; Destiny, Addison, Owen and Wyatt.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents Almon and Emma Adams, and grandson Jason Myers.
A Memorial Service for Bud will be held at the Stevens Point -Shuda Funeral Home at 12:00 pm, Thursday, April 19, 2018. Friends and Family will gather to share memories from 10:00 am until the service.
