Obituary for Ronald "Ron" Bacon

Ronald "Ron" Bacon, age 73, of Stevens Point passed away Friday morning November 11, 2016 at North Haven Living Center, where he has resided the past year.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Ron will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday November 18, 2016 at St. Stephen Catholic Church. Rev. Jerzy Rebacz will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in the St. Stephen Parish Cemetery. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 9:30 AM until the time of services Friday at the church. Shuda Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Ron was born August 17, 1943 in Janesville, the son of Floyd and Theresa (Lyke) Bacon. After graduating high school in Janesville, Ron entered the United States Navy on October 3, 1966 in Madison. During his service to his country Ron earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (2 stars), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and a Meritorious Unit Commendation Award (1 star). He was honorably discharged January 2, 1971 from the US Naval Station in San Diego, CA..

After his honorable discharge, Ron attended UW-Platteville and then UW-Stevens Point. After college Ron remained in Stevens Point and made it his home. He married Anita Coleman on October 17, 1977 in Stevens Point. Ron was the bar manager at the Blue Top for 17 years before opening and operating Frames & Things- Pampered Stamper with his wife until retiring in 2007. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, helping others, and was a scoutmaster for many years. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Packers and Brewers. Most of all, Ron loved his family and babysitting his grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his wife Anita; 2 sons: Kevin (Maria) Bacon, Stevens Point and Daniel (Brittany Longstaff) Bacon, Stevens Point; 2 stepsons: Bob (Ann Spohn) Belmore, Minocqua and Jim Belmore, Colombia, MO; His brother: Darrell Bacon, Janesville; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother John.
