Irma Holicek
Irma E. Holicek, age 99, of Stevens Point passed away Monday evening November 28, 2016 at the Portage County Health Care Center, under the care of Ministry Hospice.
Private services were held at the Shuda Funeral Chapel – Stevens Point, with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee.
Irma was born April 30, 1917 in Gelsenkirchen Germany. Her family moved to the United States in 1929 and settled in Wauwatosa. She married Paul S. Holicek on February 14, 1942 in Wauwatosa. The coupled settled there, and she worked for the Milwaukee County Infirmary, and the Wauwatosa School system as a cook and school aide until her retirement. In 1994 she moved to Waupaca to be near family, and in 2010 moved to Stevens Point. She enjoyed traveling after retirement with her friends, and liked to garden, cook, and listen to polkas and waltzes. She also enjoyed her jewelry and craft projects. She was also a member of several church groups and organizations in Wauwatosa, prior to moving to Waupaca.
Irma is survived by her son Paul S. Holicek Jr, Stevens Point, her grandson Paul S. Holicek III (Angelique Gukenberger), Wisconsin Rapids, and her daughter-in-law, Lyann Holicek, Plover. She was preceded in death by her parents Gustav and Elizabeth, her husband Paul in 1967, and her brother Gus.
Irma’s family wishes to thank the staff at Bethany Home in Waupaca, Portage County Health Care Center, and Ministry Hospice for the excellent care and love you provided Irma over the last several years.
