Adelle I Somers
Adelle I. Somers age 91, of Stevens Point, passed away February 22, 2017 at Atrium Point Manor where she has resided for the past 5 years. She is the last survivor of 15 children.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Adelle will be held @ 11:00 AM on Thursday March 2, 2017 @ St. Stephen Catholic Church. Rev. Jerzy Rebacz will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends & relatives will gather to share memories from 9:00 - 10:45 AM on Thursday @ the church.
Shuda Funeral Service is assisting the family. A memorial in lieu of flowers will be established in her name for the Alzheimer's Association of WI.
Adelle was born December 29, 1925 in Fancher, the daughter of Felix & Martha (Konkol) Jastromski. Adelle married Ray Somers on June 7, 1947 @ St. Peters Catholic Church & the couple settled in Stevens Point. Adelle worked @ Taylor Drug Store, Roska Pharmacy, Holt Drug & Park Ridge Pharmacy & retired in Aug 2000 at age 75. She loved her job & the many friendships created through the years. Adelle enjoyed cooking, baking, shopping, church picnics, listening & dancing to Polkas, bingo & car/bus trips & visits to the casinos. Her home was always open & she loved hosting family & friend get-togethers & friends of her kids always thought of her as “mom”. She was a volunteer at the Lincoln Center & the Red Cross Blood Bank. Her church & faith were very important parts of her life.
She is survived by daughters Karen Wilson, Beacon Falls, CT, Judy (John) Yauch, Plover & son DuWayne “Duke” (Pam) Somers, Plover. Grandsons Jeffrey (Sarah) Yauch, Peyton, CO & Cole Somers, Stevens Point; Granddaughters Jennifer (Bryan) Bula, Plover, Jamie (Paul) Onakoya, Seattle, WA & Molly (Clay) Schelitzche, Verona, WI.
Great-granddaughters Katy Yauch, Grove, OK & Adilyn Bula, Plover; Great-grandsons Kamden & Karson Bula, Plover & Jordy Yauch, CO & step-great granddaughter Brynna Abbott-Bula,WI Rapids. Great-grandson baby Onakoya is due on Feb 28.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ray in Aug 1994 & 14 siblings & their spouses: John (Marion) Jastromski, Sue (Ben) Domack, Ann (Edwin) Kubisiak, Betty (Henry) Schlewski, Bernice (Fred) Helminski, Chet (Leona) Jastromski, Alvin (Sue) Jastromski, Pauline (Martin) Dolski, Sister Ernestine SSJ-TOSF, Edie (Ken) Binnebose, infant Myron Jastromski, twin girls died at birth & Severine (John) Nowak. She was also preceded in death by many nieces & nephews, her son-in-law Greg Wilson & great-grandchild Samy Jean Yauch.
