Norman Wallner
Norman "Tuffy" Wallner age 93, of Stevens Point, passed away Sunday morning October 29, 2017 at Wellington Place, surrounded by his loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Tuffy will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday November 4, 2017 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover. Rev. Edward Shuttleworth will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery. Friends and family will share memories from 10:00 AM Saturday until the time of services at the church. Shuda Funeral Service is honored to serve the family.
Tuffy was born March 12, 1924 in Sherry, WI, the son of Louis and Anna (Haasl) Wallner. He graduated from Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School in 1943. Tuffy entered the United States Army in 1944, and served in the Air Corp. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Tuffy settled in Winlock, WA after serving his country and worked as a lumberjack on Mount St. Helens, WA until returning to Wisconsin to marry the love of his life, June (Jinsky) on November 17, 1948 in Wisconsin Rapids. The couple settled in Biron where Tuffy worked for Consolidated Paper. He worked as a powerhouse operator for 4 years before he earned his journeyman electrician certification. The couple moved to Whiting in 1954, where Tuffy had built a home for his young family. He worked as an electrician for the paper mill until his retirement in 1987. In retirement he worked for the Sentry golf course as a marshal, while also enjoying fishing, hunting, camping, and traveling with his wife. Tuffy also served on the board of directors of the Consolidated Community Credit Union from 1981 to 1996.
Tuffy is survived by his wife of close to 70 years June, and their 7 children: Judy (Lee) Wilhelm; John; Tina (Tom) Carlson; Michael (Karen); Joseph (Alice); James (Sarah); Pat (Heidi). 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 siblings: Emery, Joseph, Carl, Theresa, and Veronica; and his daughter-in-law Deb.
The family of Norman Wallner would like to thank the staff of Wellington Place at Whiting, Southern Care Hospice, Daly Drug (Wisconsin Rapids) and Central Wisconsin Credit Union for the excellent service and personal engagement with both Norman and June. These folks have gone above and beyond the call of the occupation to treat Mom and Dad with love and respect.
